Thinking of moving away from everything you’ve ever known?

My way or the highway

I did that.

Age 21, my partner and I up-rooted our cosy life in Devon to move to a town we’d visited once. I joined the first company I interviewed with, in a sector I knew nothing about, doing a job I’d only became aware of a few weeks before. We had no nearby family, no friends, no real idea of what we were getting ourselves into.

It’s been a rollercoaster, to say the least. I’ve learned more about myself and other people in the last 2 years than I had in the prior 21 years combined. There have been dizzying highs and colossal life lessons.

This blog is a no-holds-barred account of my transition both personally and professionally. So many young people go through the same thing and make huge moves at a time of their life where, really, they’re still understanding who they are and who they want to be.

If this blog has found its way to your screen and you’re about to leave for university, take a year out travelling, or relocate to pastures new, I hope this helps with your transition.

Most importantly, I hope you enjoy what you read!

Lauren

Favourite way to start every day is with this beauuuuuutiful view accompanied by a stunning dawn chorus 🥰 spring is slowly gracing us with her presence 🌞 🍃 🌸
This really captures my true happiness. Cal and I spent my 23rd birthday in Tuscany at @agriturismodiacceroni. I’ve never before - or since - experienced such all encompassing tranquility and joy. The landscape, the quiet, the sunshine, the horses, the experiences, the company, the food and the atmosphere were just absolute perfection to me. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a place so in tune with my type of peace and I cannot wait to be back alongside @calblount 🙌🥰
Going for early morning walks has been so good for my brain! I’m more productive whilst WFH and am loving the chance to see more sunrises and sunsets like this whilst the days are so short 🌄 🌅 🌲
Please Earth Gods let me get outside in some fresh air and sunshine soon 🌍 ☀️ 🌲
I’ve got a lot of love for the people and experiences that made 2020 a year to be grateful for. At the very least, it was another year to have experienced. We are inherently resilient, optimistic beings and I am most certainly thankful for being where I am right now, surrounded (albeit not physically) with people that make my heart FULL 💛💫🥂
Views like this are awe-inspiring enough to forget about the troubles of 2020, just for a second 🌳
